DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM and other operators will start accepting mobile wagers in Louisiana this morning.

US.- Louisiana’s mobile sports betting market opens today (January 28), with a number of licensed operators going live. The expansion comes after sports betting at land-based casinos in Louisiana launched in October.

Caesars is one of the operators that has confirmed it will go live with its Caesars Sportsbook mobile app for consumers in Louisiana.

Caesars Digital co-president Eric Hession said: “Caesars Sportsbook is ready for mobile sports betting’s debut in Louisiana on Friday. This is an opportunity we’ve been working toward for a long time.

“We have a proud history of operating in Louisiana with our properties Harrah’s New Orleans, Horseshoe Bossier City, and the soon to re-open Horseshoe Lake Charles. We can’t wait to offer Louisianans more convenient access to Caesars Rewards through the Caesars Sportsbook app.

“We’ve seen tremendous interest in legal sports betting since the opening of our Caesars Sportsbooks at Harrah’s New Orleans and Horseshoe Bossier City. Come Friday, through the app, we’ll be able to offer even more opportunities to experience the thrill of sports wagering.”

Another operator that confirmed it will launch today is DraftKings, alongside Golden Nugget Casino Lake Charles

DraftKings’ co-founder and president of North America, Matt Kalish, said: “There have been several DraftKings developments in Louisiana in the last year alone, including the debut of our daily fantasy products and retail sportsbook, and this latest online sportsbook launch is another significant milestone.

“Although Louisiana bettors have previously been able to place wagers in person at our Golden Nugget Casino Lake Charles location, the arrival of mobile betting greatly enhances accessibility and adoption potential within the Pelican State.”

BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt said in a statement on Wednesday: “We’re proud that BetMGM will be in the first wave of operators to launch mobile sports betting in Louisiana this fFriday. We thank both the Louisiana Gaming Control Board and the Louisiana State Police, and look forward to parlaying BetMGM’s success in neighboring regions into a long successful and responsible relationship with sports fans in the state”,

Besides DraftKings, BetMGM, Caesars, there are other sportsbooks that have already been approved for launch, including FanDuel, Betfred and Bet Rivers. WynnBet began pre-registration for players in Louisiana this week. Online sports betting will be taxed at 15 per cent.

Louisiana will eventually have as many as 41 distinct mobile sports betting operators, with each of the 20 gaming operations in the state permitted to partner with up to two sports betting skins.
