Paragon Casino will be the first casino in Louisiana to open a sportsbook this afternoon.

US.- Legal sports betting didn’t arrive in Louisiana in time for the start of the NFL season, but the Paragon Casino in Marksville will begin accepting wagers this afternoon (Wednesday October 6).

In the last few weeks, Louisiana faced some complications that delayed the launch and the approval of licenses, including last-minute changes at the Louisiana Gaming Control Board and Hurricane Ida.

Paragon Casino, the first casino in Louisiana to host a sportsbook, is owned and operated by the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana. The sportsbook is being introduced through a partnership between the tribe and Betfred Sports.

The Draft Room, as the new sportsbook is known, offers betting windows and kiosks, theatre seating and a video screen wall. It also has a restaurant, three VIP “fan caves” that can be reserved for private gatherings and 112 televisions.

Marshall Pierite, chairman of the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe, said: “As a native Louisianan and Chairman of the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana, I am thrilled to help usher in sports betting to our state.”

Other casinos will join Paragon once they have licences approved. It is expected that more than $25m in tax revenue will be generated each year for the state.
