Legend Palace restarts operations

The casino that was forced to stop operations after the Typhoon Hato that damaged Macau reopened its doors on Wednesday.

Macau.- The Legend Palace casino that initially opened its doors in February and was forced to stop operations for a month after the Typhoon Hato that damaged Macau in August is now back in business. Operations were restarted on Wednesday morning after almost four weeks of inactivity.

Legend Palace Hotel had released a notice on its official website last week where it reminded the closure but said that accommodations and casino services were supposed to start on September 18. Macau Legend Development Ltd, the Hong-Kong firm behind Legend Palace, told GGRAsia that “all the available tables, including those at the operating VIP facilities that were affected by the typhoon have formally reopened for the public from September 20.”

On the other hand, Broadway Macau, the only facility that is still closed after the floodings, released an official statement on its website last week and indicated that rooms were available starting September 25, but didn’t mention an opening date for the casino.

Analysts from brokerage Bernstein estimate that gaming gross revenue growth in Macau could decelerate during the fourth quarter of the year due to a slow VIP demand. Macau has been experiencing a strong recovery period from two years of decline that also coincided with China’s crackdown on corruption.
