Italian iGaming breaks revenue record
Online casino posted a new revenue record in March as it grew 82.4 per cent to reach €51.3 million.
Italy.- The online gambling segment continues to take over the global industry as Italian results showed during March. Last month, online casinos set a new revenue record at €60.6 million after growing 27 per cent year-on-year and exceeding January’s €59.7 million.
Meanwhile, online sports betting revenue reached €51.3 million after growing 82.4 per cent year-on-year. Its success made the online betting turnover 12.4 per cent hike to €546.2 per cent look tiny. Furthermore, retail betting revenue totalled €59.8 million on turnover of €385.4 million.
Among sports betting operators, Bet365 led both revenue (16.3 per cent) and turnover (29.1 per cent), followed by Planetwin365, Eurobet, Snaitech and Sisal. PokerStars was the top online casino as its earnings scored a 9.3 per cent share, followed by Lottomatica’s 8.8 per cent. After them came Sisal (8.3 per cent), Eurobet (6.2 per cent) and 888 Holdings (5.5 per cent).
Poker tournament fees improved 7.4 per cent to €8 million and cash games spending reported a minimum 1.5 per cent growth to €6.3 million. PokerStars also led the tournament market with 62.4 per cent, while its cash games share jumped to 40.3 per cent, recovering from a dip to under 40 per cent in February.
Moreover, virtual sports operators generated revenue of €22.8 million in March, with Goldbet leading the way with a 27.8 per cent share, followed by Snaitech (18.2 per cent) and Eurobet (14 per cent). Online bingo posted a revenue of €2.8 million, led by Tombola International’s 44.5 per cent share, way ahead of Bwin (12 per cent), Sisal (10 per cent) and Lottomatica (9.5 per cent).
