Florida voters in favor of casino amendment
The amendment would allow voters to authorise new casinos through ballot measures.
US.- A new poll conducted by the Florida Chamber of Commerce has revealed that a majority of voters are in favor of a constitutional amendment that aims at limiting gambling by leaving the decision to voters.
The poll obtained by Florida Politics shows that 54% of voters surveyed are planning to vote yes on Amendment 3, which would leave the decisions to voters in the future to authorise new casino gambling through citizen-initiated ballot measures. The poll also shows that 28% plan to vote “no”, while 18% remain undecided.
Earlier this week it was reported that Disney Worldwide Services and the Seminole tribe each donated US$5 million to Voters in Charge, the entity behind the campaign that limits future casino gambling in the state. The latest reports indicate that Disney Worldwide Services and the Seminole tribe each donated US$5 million to the campaign.
It is estimated that Disney has already spend more than US$19.7 million to pass the amendment, while the Seminoles have contributed with almost US$17 million to Voters in Charge.
