Casino revenue falls in Mississippi
After two months of strong increases, revenue from casinos fell three per cent in Mississippi.
US.- According to figures released by the Mississippi Revenue Department, gamblers in the state lost US$170 million, three per cent down from the US$174 million registered in June 2017.
Mississippi experienced two great months in April and May, with a nine and seven per cent increase year-on-year statewide. Back in April, the casino segment posted a record US$108.6 million revenue, and maintained the upward trend in May, as it reached US$181 million.
Receipts decreased to US$97 million at the 12 coastal casinos, which represents a four per cent decrease from June 2017. On the other hand, the 16 river casinos achieved winnings of US$72 million, approximately the same as last year.
Moreover, revenue statewide was down by one per cent over the last 12 months, while Gulf Coast casinos showed a two per cent increase and river casinos experienced a three per cent decrease.
