Atlantic City casinos close indefinitely

Governor Phil Murphy has ordered the state’s nine casinos to close indefinitely due to Coronavirus.

US.- Casinos in the US are being forced to close their doors as part of efforts to contain the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.

Although there have been no reported cases in Atlantic City, the local government has taken the decision to close all casinos indefinitely.

According to CardPlayer, Governor Phil Murphy ordered the state’s nine casinos to shut down as efforts to combat Covid-19 ramp up.

“It is no longer the time for business as usual. This is real. Stop believing folks who say this isn’t real,” Murphy said.

Atlantic City is the latest in a line of casino cities taking measures to prevent the spread of the deadly disease.

It follows the decision taken by Macau in February to close all casinos for 15 days. Most casinos have now re-opened but visitor numbers remain low.

The decision to close casinos in Atlantic City comes after the sector posted an 18% year on year increase in February revenues, marking its best February since 2011.
