Asian lotteries thrived in 2017
Both Vietnamese and Chinese lotteries saw an increase in sales and revenue during last year.
China.- Lotteries in China and Vietnam had a great 2017 and saw revenue and sales increase in comparison with 2016. In China, sales rose 8.1 per cent to 427 billion yuan (US$67 billion) while Vietnamese lottery companies reported excellent revenue during 2017.
The Ministry of Finance of China reported the increase in the lottery sales, as welfare lottery tickets rose 5.1 per cent to 217 billion yuan (US$34 billion) and sports lottery sales rose 11.4 per cent to 210 billion yuan (US$32.9 billion.)
In Vietnam, all 21 lottery companies reported revenues of 91.880 billion dong (US$4.1 billion) in 2017 and increased 7.2 per cent from the previous year. Furthermore, according to the Southern Lottery Council, they contributed 24.158 billion dong (US$1.1 billion) to the state budget and paid 34,049 billion dong (US$1.5 billion) to lottery winners.
