Tabcorp loses US$7.29m due to fire

The resulting outages impacted the firm’s TAB, Keno and gaming services operations over the weekend.

Australia.- Tabcorp Holdings has said a fire incident at data centre managed by a third-party in Sydney caused its systems to crash and led to the closure of retail venues over the weekend.

The fire resulted in “extensive damage” to Tabcorp’s servers and infrastructure, and led to technical and systems outages.

The outages impacted the firm’s TAB, Keno and gaming services operations from the morning of November 7.

The company said lost wagering turnover will impact Tabcorp’s EBITDA by about AU$10 million (US$7.29m).

Tabcorp said: “Services have now largely been restored with an immediate focus on ensuring the systems return to optimal service levels in coming days.

“Tabcorp has commenced a comprehensive and urgent review into this incident, which will be overseen by the board.”

The firm already suffered a 5.7 per cent drop in revenue in Q1.
