Macau might close casinos where virus detected
Authorities have suggested that any casino where a Covid-19 case is detected might be required to suspend activities.
Macau.- A representative from Macau’s Judiciary Police has suggested that casinos could be required to suspend activities in the event that a case of novel coronavirus infection is detected on their premises.
According to Luís Leong, who spoke after a meeting of the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau with the city’s six casino operators, the confirmation of any case of Covid-19 at one of the casinos “might imply the closure of said venue, which could have a significant impact on the economy.”
Mr Leong said the city’s gaming operators should follow government-issued guidelines to the letter for anyone entering gaming venues.
Strict protocols were introduced on July 15, when authorities required to all guests who intend to enter the city’s casinos to have temperature tests on entry, as well as displaying a health declaration and certificate of a valid nucleic acid test.
