Macau Legend group will continue with the development of an integrated resort in Cape Verde, despite delays due to the pandemic.
Macau.- Macau Legend group will continue with its project to build a casino resort in Praia, Cape Verde, despite the impact of the pandemic.
According to the government of Cape Verde, the plans to open an integrated resort are still afoot albeti with delays. Macau Legend has invested US$294.5 million in the project.
Cape Verde Minister of Tourism, Carlos Santos, told Lusa agency the IR is the biggest investment in the tourist sector in Cape Verde and that its future has not been called into question despite the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The minister said: “Nor have we seen any signs in this direction [pandemic jeopardising Macau Legend group investment]. Incidentally, I say that the overwhelming majority of investors who are making investments in Cape Verde, before the pandemic, immediately with the repatriation flights asked the Cape Verdean Government for authorisation to send their technicians to Cape Verde to continue the projects.
“There has been no desire to give up. It is very good, it means that businessmen and investors are believing in the country, in the destination of Cape Verde and in the ability to continue to grow, in the business opportunities we have.
“There will probably have to be some delay there, precisely because of the stops that existed. But we are hopeful that with regard to large investments, things will continue.”
