Donaco to reopen in Cambodia “in a few weeks”
The firm is waiting on the necessary inspections at its Star Vegas Resort & Club in Poipet in order to resume operations.
Cambodia.- Donaco International Limited has announced it is expecting to obtain the necessary permit to reopen its Star Vegas Resort & Club in Poipet, which has been closed since March 31.
In order to reopen, casinos in Cambodia must get approval from the local Ministry of Health (MOH) and implement certain preventive measures against Covid-19.
Donaco anticipates that the MOH will conduct the necessary inspections on its Poipet casino within the next few weeks and allow it to reopen for business.
The company noted that Thailand has extended its state of emergency due to Covid-19 until August 31, which will likely impact the reopening of borders, resulting in lower numbers of Thai visitors.
The company said: “As the majority of Star Vegas’ visitors are from Thailand, Donaco expects patronage numbers will remain low at Star Vegas until the border between Thailand and Cambodia is reopened.
“The company is optimistic that the COVID-19 situation will continue to improve in the region Star Vegas operates in and the Cambodian Government’s announcement is a positive step towards a resumption of normal operations.”
