100 arrested for gambling in India during Diwali

Despite being prohibited from gambling, people often play cards with stakes during the annual festival.
According to the local press, it is widely known that people bet more than at any other time during the festival. As a result, police have begun conducting raids.
In Kamareddy, Telangana, 109 were arrested on November 14, and police seized Rs 6,49,180, according to The Indian Wire. Police also recovered playing cards. Around Rs. 1 lakh was seized from a single house alone.
In the Dharwad district of Karnataka, 18 gambling dens were raided, resulting in 65 arrests and the seizure of Rupees 49 lakh.
