Massachusetts State Lottery wants lawmakers to allow online gambling

Officials of the state lottery are seeking for legislators support to allow online gambling to take place, giving players access to games 24/7.

US.- Massachusetts State Lottery is asking legislators to allow online gambling to take place in the state, giving players access to games 24/7. If lawmakers show their support, lottery players in Massachusetts may soon have access to gambling options online

In the event lawmakers agree, the Lottery would begin with an online pilot program where the games played would be linked to a credit card. Opponents are concerned that the measure could lead to excessive gambling and ultimately problem gambling. On the other hand, there would be a spending cap put in place to limit how much users could spend in a specific time frame to prevent gambling addiction.

The Joint Committee On Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure approved S-151, a measure created by State Senator Jennifer Flanagan back in June, so there are supporters for this kind of legislation. This measure would allow the lottery to offer online games via computer and mobile applications.
