(Exclusive interview).- Anna Shahbazyan talked with Focus Gaming News about BetConstruct’s targets in Latin America.
BetConstruct already conquered the Latin American gaming market with its top-tier services, although the emergent region has not reached its biggest potential yet. BetConstruct is positioned as one of the major developers of the authorised industry, which is set to be one of the most profitable markets in the world. Anna Shahbazyan, BetConstruct’s Regional Director in Uruguay, revealed the company’s plan to boost both the market and the brand.
Latin America became a strategic center of BetConstruct’s activities. Which further steps does the industry need to develop sports betting and gaming in the region?
In the region, it is very important to have clear legislations that allow all the players in the market to know the rules and compete in an open market. A lot of countries, like Colombia, are making an effort towards that goal, and we believe it will be a great step forward.
What makes the Latin American market attractive for BetConstruct?
LATAM is a market that is growing at a rapid pace and as countries in the region continue to update the laws and regulate, the market will grow exponentially. We see every day new players entering the market and seeing the potential.
What are the challenges that the company faces when it comes to the expansion of the industry?
Well, most of them are legislative issues, some countries still don’t have clear rules and some people in the market use this to their advantage. Also some big operators still find it difficult to enter the market because sometimes they find no certainty that their investment is totally safe.
Colombia, host of FADJA, is the only Latin American market that has regulated the sports betting industry. What are BetConstruct’s expectations about meeting other regional lawmakers at FADJA?
We are very excited to have the chance to meet face to face with lawmakers, having the opportunity to ask questions, and discuss details about the legal landscape. We believe the Colombian market will have rapid growth in the coming years, and we want to make sure we are 100 percent ready for this. This is a great opportunity to explain our partners the opportunities in the market.
