West Virginia lottery director resigns
The governor of the state has appointed Doug Buffington as his replacement.
US.- Alan Larrick, director of the West Virginia Lottery, has resigned his position this week. State governor Jim Justice has already appointed Doug Buffington as Larrick’s temporary replacement.
Larrick was the director of the lottery for less than two years, a period in which the lottery saw an increase in sales. The 2017 total number of sales increased by US$12 million, the first time sales were up year-on-year since 2012. Instant win sales also increased 12% during his time in the state lottery, the first increase in a decade.
Buffington, who is set to temporarily replace Larrick, is currently deputy secretary to the West Virginia Secretary of Revenue. Larrick’s resignation comes just a few days after the state launches its legal sports betting operations.
Jim Justice, West Virginia governor, talked about Larrick’s departure and said that there is no question that he has done an excellent job and that he will be certainly missed. No reasons have been given for Larrick’s departure.
