UK Police break up poker party

Around 26 people were fined after participating in a poker party violating Covid-19 lockdown rules.

UK.- Police officers in Lancashire, in the North West of England, have arrested 26 people after busting a poker party for breaching the country’s Covid-19 lockdown.

According to officers from Lancashire Constabulary, people had travelled from as far as Nottingham and St Helens for the poker tournament at a bar in Blackburn on Saturday (March 6). Each person attending was fined £800.

Police discovered people playing poker and consuming food and drink across two large tables at Robertos Bar in Richmond Terr.

Sgt Steve Dundon, of the Blackburn neighbourhood policing team, said: “This kind of behaviour is completely unacceptable and not only potentially puts lives in danger; it also risks extending the lockdown yet further.

“While we will show patience and understanding where possible, at this point of the pandemic people really should know better”.
