The Stars Group jumps into sports betting in New Jersey

The company partnered with Resorts Casino Hotel to offer mobile and online sports wagering in the state.

US.- The Stars Group has jumped in the sports betting segment in New Jersey after agreeing on a partnership deal with Resorts Casino Hotel. The poker giant – which has been moving away from poker – will offer mobile and online sports betting and becomes the second company to do so after DraftKings, which partnered with Resorts as well.

“We believe The Stars Group is uniquely qualified with the experience and insight needed to make sports betting a success in New Jersey,” said Matt Primeaux, a senior vice president at Toronto-based The Stars Group. “We have successfully launched the BetStars brand in many European regulated markets, and we have invested heavily to create a premier global offering.”

Resorts Casino Hotel is one of five casinos which operate sports betting, alongside Borgata, Ocean Resort, Bally’s and Harrah’s, in addition to the Monmouth Park and Meadowlands racetracks.

Resorts president Mark Giannantonio said: “We’re excited to double down on our already successful partnership with The Stars Group, which owns leading sports books globally, and has always been known and respected for their advanced technology, superior customer experience and cutting-edge security safeguards.”
