“We are definitely planning to do business in Japan”

(Exclusive interview).- Rebecca Kingswell, Managing Director APAC at TCSJOHNHUXLEY, discussed with Focus Gaming News the company’s plans for the upcoming G2E Asia.

G2E Asia, the must-attend marketplace for the Asian gaming-entertainment industry, is just around the corner as it will return this month to deliver a three-day showcase of leading-edge products, services and technologies. Rebecca Kingswell, Managing Director APAC of the company, talked with Focus Gaming News about this year’s event.

You’ve recently announced that new innovations will be introduced at G2E Asia. What can the public expect from your booth?

G2E Asia sees a number of new additions to our portfolio. We are delighted to debut GFL Bonusing Rewards which provides an exciting twist to our existing Bonusing system. GFL Bonusing is a powerful progressive system, which allows operators to configure bespoke event-driven and mystery jackpots via a secure centrally controlled platform. With the ability to intelligently customise games and provide multiple jackpots, the increased chances of winning keep players at the table for longer and casinos achieve the best hold possible. Now with the addition of GFL Bonusing Rewards, operators can utilise casino promotion budgets to fund mystery jackpots, creating an exciting ‘in it to win it’ prize pool which is independent of the base game. 

We will also be showcasing our patented Blaze LED Surface Technology which has been lighting up casino floors around the world. Blaze excites players and improves game speed with its vibrant animations and clear game state prompts. Now available with even crisper graphics and the ability to create detailed and powerful animations, Blaze for Roulette and Sicbo is once again set to create a real buzz.

In what ways does G2E Asia help you strengthen your position across the continent?

We have been exhibiting at G2E Asia for over 10 years and have always regarded it as an important show, being the perfect platform to launch products and services to key operators in the region. The captive audience G2E brings to Macau certainly offers some of the best opportunities to capitalise in terms of sales and networking throughout the calendar year.

G2E Asia will see the patented Blaze LED Surface Technology, as well as a new addition to the Qorex Electronic Gaming Solutions range. Do you expect the feedback from the public to help you further develop your products in order to reach more markets?

We work very closely with customers and use feedback from trade shows and other events to develop and enhance products that Casinos want – it’s a valuable part of our development process. However, what works in one market does not necessarily work in another. In general, most products are relevant globally but we need to tailor our products to meet certain jurisdictional requirements and trends dependent on the region. 

We are definitely planning to do business in Japan and will work with the relevant regulatory authorities. Understanding the unique requirements of the Japanese market will be instrumental in obtaining market share.

How does TCSJOHNHUXLEY perceive the upcoming Japanese market? Are you planning any possible business there once there is a firm legislation? What is the best way to proceed in a newly regulated market?

New markets are not a new thing to TCSJOHNUXLEY as we have been around for 45 years and seen many emerging and changing markets! We are definitely planning to do business in Japan and will work with the relevant regulatory authorities. Understanding the unique requirements of the Japanese market will be instrumental in obtaining market share.

What are the biggest differences that the company sees between Asia and the other markets that makes the former so profitable?

Asian properties generally have a larger number of tables than most jurisdictions. TCSJOHNHUXLEY’s core business as a live table gaming supplier reflects this with order sizes for these regions larger than others.

As a global supplier our product mix varies from one region to another. In Europe, we’re a strong manufacturer of wheels, chippers, tables and displays. Whereas the sheer size and scale of casinos in this region prompt operators to look for products that optimise their gaming floor to maximise turnover, reduce operating costs and understand opportunity costs. As a result, we have a strong focus on software and scoreboard display related products, such as the Optimisation, Bonusing and Media modules on our Gaming Floor Live platform that are installed over a vast number of tables.
