Southland Gaming announces US$250m expansion
The facility announced a new US$250 million expansion that includes a new casino complex.
US.- Delaware North, owner of Southland Gaming & Racing, announced this week a US$250 million expansion that will include a new casino complex and a 20-story hotel. The gaming options at the racing venue will be expanded to include sports betting areas.
Spokesman for Delaware North, Glen White, said that Southland’s gaming options will be expanded to 2,400 gambling machines and up to 60 live table games, as well as sports betting areas, now that the modality is legalised.
The project establishes that it will add approximately 400 additional permanent jobs to the casino complex and hotel, bringing employment at Southland to approximately 1,200 jobs, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette revealed. More than 1,500 jobs will also be created during the construction phase.
Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson joined several owners and operators of the company for the announcement and emphasised that this is the largest investment in the tourism industry in the state’s history.
