Pennsylvania police shut illegal gaming lounge
Fifty-seven gaming machines and over $68,000 in cash were seized from the property.
US.- The Pennsylvania police department raided and shut down an illegal gaming lounge in the Berks Country area.
Fifty-seven “skilled gaming machines” and over $68,000 in cash were seized from the property which operated under the name of 777.
The illegal machines that were seized operate in a similar way to slot machines except the player determines the winning pay line.
They can be found in a range of locations across Pennsylvania but have caught the attention of the state since the businesses offering the machines pay no licence fees nor share any proportion of their revenue with the state.
Licensed casino operators, particularly Penn National Gaming, have argued strongly for a clampdown on the machines, but some members of the state senate are in favour of legalising them with a properly enforced licensing fee operation.
The state police for the moment consider them unlawful, and have so far identified 10 manufacturers of the machines.
