Pennsylvania poker room take rose six percent

Poker tables within the Pennsylvania casino industry took in US$4.67 million, raising six percent year-to-year.

US.- Ever since table games were introduced in Penssylvania in 2010, poker revenue has brought in a total US$402.5 million, surpassing the 400 mark after June’s US$4.67 million take. Monthly figures from all 225 poker tables around the state were revealed by gaming regulators and represent a six percent increase year-to-year, but a decline of 8.2 percent in comparison to May.

Revenue drop is mainly due to the World Series of Poker (WSOP), which takes place in Las Vegas during June and brings in players from all over the US and the world. As reported by cardplayer.com, the poker tournament impacts negatively in every other state as it was shown at the Keystone State’s numbers. WSOP revealed that 2,234 out of the total 94,087 entries at the tournament were from Pennsylvanian players.

Despite the seasonal slump, the 10 Pennsylvania poker rooms took in a total US$4.41 million in June 2016, which means that the US$4.67 million represents a 5.9 percent growth year-on-year. However, poker performed poorly in 2016, having a total rake of US$58.6 million, only US$1 million higher than the previous year.

Pennsylvania is looking to regulate online casinos, but the debate at the state’s Congress has had several hurdles to overcome and is still far from it. When they finally achieve the desired bill, gaming revenues are projected to be considerably higher.
