Penn casino revenue falls
Pennsylvania casino revenue noted a decline during January’s operations.
US.- According to the official report released by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Boardposted this weekend, casino activity in the state have not achieved the expected results during the first month of the year. January’s report shows that casino slot machine revenue fell 1.4 per cent in comparison with the same period 2017.
January gross revenue from slot machines at the 12 casinos was US$177,795,127, representing a 1.4 percent decrease in revenue when compared to the US$180,304,670 generated in the same month of 2017. Tax revenue in January of this year was US$92,644,953. The average number of slot machines operating on a daily basis was 25,808 during January 2018 compared to 26,254 at the casinos in January 2017.
However, casino experts believe the results will improve within the following months, as last year the casino sector in Pennsylvania grew its profitability. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) revealed the financial results for the 12 brick-and-mortar casino licensees which reported a record-breaking 2017. During last year, casinos in the state reached a combined gaming revenue of US$3.22 billion and continue to grow despite a decline in slots return.
And although the revenue was not the expected in January, this month’s operations could recover last year’s rhythm to keep boosting the economic sector. Pennsylvania is set to experience major changes during 2018 as the gambling expansion comes into effect. Its first consequence came last week with Penn National Gaming winning an auction for a Category 4 casino license.
