PartyPoker withdraws Czech license application

The operator PartyPoker has decided to end its bid to obtain a new gaming license in the Czech Republic.

Czech Republic.- PartyPoker revealed that the company decided not to pursue a new gaming license in the Czech Republic. The news that they were seeking a permit in the European nation were announced in February.

The online poker operator said that it would not be pursuing a license application because the current licensing procedure in the country was not in compliance with the principles stated by the European Union. But in favor of Czech players, the company said that this is not the end of the tunnel since they’re planning on meeting local authorities in order to discuss the subject sometime this year. Moreover, PartyPoker said that the company could pursue an application process if it’s decided that the concerns officials currently have can be resolved.

Back in February authorities reported that they would go on with their intentions to block illegal gambling sites in the country, since a national court supported the decision by declaring it as constitutional. The gaming industry is controlled by new legislation, which became effective in January 2017.
