Osaka casino conference delayed
The earthquake that happened last week in Osaka has delayed the Congress to debate the casino industry.
Japan.- Osaka authorities have confirmed that the IR Promotion Conference will be delayed to likely next month after the government had to take preventive measures due to the earthquake that hit the city on June 18th. Although the date has not yet been set, an official of the Osaka prefectural government told local press that it should be scheduled by July.
This month’s conference was supposed to be the 8th meeting among representatives of the industry to discuss the upcoming Osaka market as casino development is near to beginning. The conferences began last year under the chairmanship of Hiroshi Mizohata, president of the Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau. Professor Ichiro Tanioka, president of Osaka University of Commerce, was later listed as the deputy chairman.
Osaka will present casino projects bidding for gaming licences, while authorities have already introduced a proposal to host the World Expo 2025 in conjunction with the IR plans for the development vision for Yumeshima. City governments of Osaka and the prefectural revealed the “Interim Framework Plan” to build an integrated resort at Yumeshima. The plan emphasises that the integrated resort that would open in 2023 or 2024 would use high technology.
