Online casino in Italy deepens share gap

Lottomatica has increased its share of the dot.it online casino market during August operations.

Italy.- Lottomatica increased its share of the dot.it online casino market in August to 9.1 percent and moved ahead of PokerStars. The news were revealed by sector advisory firm Ficom Leisure, in a report provided to iGaming Business.

The gap between Bet365 and Planetwin365 also became smaller during August operations, down 1.7 percent from 12.3 percent in June. Total gross gaming revenue (GGR) by all modalities in the dot.it market reached US$114 million, up from the US$113 million from July. Casino accounted 46.2 percent of those results. Moreover, Planetwin365 cracked the top 10 operators and top three cash poker operators for the first time ever since Italy regulated the industry.

State Monopoly of Italy’s date of publication for new online gaming concessions took place from September 18-25, in which 120 concessions of US$240k each were analysed, but no further details were reported. The license will last up to December 31, 2022 and will cover all the games that can be offered under non-exclusive licenses such as horse betting, sports betting, casino cames, betting and eSports games, among other things. Once the license is given, the operator needs to obtain the technical support related to each game, but no additional money has to be paid.
