New Jersey’s iGaming posts solid numbers in June

The online segment had a strong month across the board but remained unremarkable as it wasn’t as good as recent months.

US.- Online gambling continued to post strong figures during June but was a quiet period in comparison with recent months when the segment broke records. According to the Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE), internet gaming reached US$22,684,094, up from last year’s US$20.2 million but down from May’s nearly record-breaking US$24.3 million (it was the second-highest gross revenue total in the industry’s nearly five-year history).

The DGE showed that online poker was up 1.28 per cent year-on-year to US$1,757,839, while online casinos were 13.13 per cent better than last year as they reached US$20,926,255 during June. Nonetheless, growth continues to decline towards the 10 per cent mark and is getting farther away from the 30-40 per cent growth rate of just a couple of months ago.

Meanwhile, the New Jersey regulatory body reported that the two casinos and the racetrack allowed to conduct sports betting collected US$16.4 million in wagers during the first two weeks of legal operations. Borgata, Ocean Resort and Monmouth Park racetrack totalled US$3.5 million in gross sports betting revenue on those bets. The three facilities are the only places that currently take legal sports bets.
