New casino project on Fremont Street

Derek and Greg Stevens plan to build a casino on the land that houses two small casinos and the Topless Girls of Glitter Gulch adult entertainment club.

US.- Derek and Greg Stevens said yesterday (Thursday) that they will build their third hotel-casino after acquiring a building from the Granite Gaming Group. The complex will also include the Fremont Street Experience light canopy.

The project will be developed on the land provided by the building that houses two small casinos and the Topless Girls of Glitter Gulch adult entertainment club. The topless club and the Mermaids and La Bayou casinos will be closed by June 27.

“We are very excited to work with Granite Gaming Group on this transaction,” said Derek Stevens said in a statement. “I’ve always believed the whole is larger than the sum of its parts and this real estate acquisition provides a great opportunity for the future of downtown Las Vegas.”

Derek Stevens was the successful bidder for Clark County’s Bridger Building at Third Street and Bridger Avenue, which the company purchased for future growth. Stevens was the only qualified bidder and paid US$2.7 million for the property.
