Missoula lawmaker against new casino
Lawmakers are concerned about the gambling expansion in the Montana city.
US.- As one more casino got approved in the city, concerns are rising among lawmakers because they believe that gambling is expanding too much. Missoula currently has 20 casinos.
The Missoula City Council passed a measure this week that allows the Outback Steakhouse on North Reserve to offer casino games. The venue could be used as a tavern and a casino. Even if councilwoman Michelle Cares is okay with the proposal, she thinks that the number of casinos in the city is increasing dangerously quick and that they’re not ready for it.
“It’s an addiction, often, gambling. And there are definitely people who can gamble who are not addicted, who are not in danger of spending their last paycheck. But there are also people who have that struggle,” she said.
