Lincoln City prepares zoning changes to build new casino

Lincoln City in Nebraska has been discussing zoning changes in order to build a new casino beside a racecourse.

US.- Lincoln City Council is analysing potential zoning changes to allow the construction of a casino beside its racecourse.

After hearing testimonies from neighbours and from the racecourse, the Council has decided it is possible to make the changes needed to accommodate a casino.

The $200m project from Ho-Chunk’s WarHorse Gaming and the Nebraska Horsemen’s Benevolent & Protective Association is planned to include a hotel, event spaces, restaurants, a spa and over 1,000 gaming stations. Construction is expected to start next year.

Nebraska Horsemen’s Benevolent & Protective Association executive vice president Lynne McNally said: “We’re making the changes in accommodation to the casino itself and this would allow us to get moving on the building that we need to be making in order to make this all a reality.

“It’s so exciting to see that there was an overwhelming mandate for casino gambling in the state. I couldn’t be more proud of what we’re about to offer.”

McNally said she has received positive signals form the city council. She said: “I’m really hoping that they can see our vision and see that we intend to be great partners of the city and great supporters of the community.”
