Isle of Capri casino lays off 350 workers

The company has cited restrictions on non-essential businesses and stay-at-home orders put in place to slow down the spread of COVID-19 for the cuts.

US.- The Isle of Capri casino has notified the state of Missouri that it will lay off 350 workers from April 11.

In its notice, the company cited restrictions on non-essential businesses and stay-at-home orders put in place to slow down the spread of COVID-19.

“This emergency and these sudden unexpected circumstances caused the temporary facility closure and adversely affected our business operations,” the company said in its notice to state officials.

Governor Mike Parson ordered all of the states’ casinos to close on March 18 in compliance with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services order on statewide social distancing.

Casinos closed include those in the metro area: Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City, Harrah’s North Kansas City Casino & Hotel, Argosy Casino Hotel & Spa and Isle of Capri Casino.
