Horseshoe casino begins construction work
Horseshoe Southern Indiana’s move from river to land has begun as it started construction work at the new site.
US.- After getting clearance from the Indiana Gaming Commission (IGC), Horseshoe Southern Indiana has broken ground on its US$85 million project in Harrison County. The project is expected to take up to 18 months to complete and is set to replace the company’s riverboat casino with a land-based facility.
The company – owned by Caesars Entertainment – received authorisation from the IGC back in April to develop its 100,000-square-foot facility in Elizabeth and has just begun working on it. It’s a move that follows the passage of a piece of legislation by the Indiana General Assembly in 2015, which allowed riverboat casinos to be eligible to move onto land.
Senior vice president and general manager of the casino Brad Siegel stated that the new facility will feature new dining, retail and entertainment options. After receiving authorisation from the IGC, he said: “This project further demonstrates our continued enthusiasm for and commitment to the State. We appreciate the Commission’s decision today and look forward to continuing our positive working relationships at the State and local level.”
