Gambling project terminated in Pennsylvania
Uncertainty surrounding gaming legislation in Pennsylvania has forced David LeVan to shut down its casino project for the Adams County.
US.- David LeVan was applying for a license for a proposed casino and horse racing complex in Adams County but has decided to drop the project due to the uncertainty of gaming expansion legislation in Pennsylvania. The General Assembly has been debating it for months and the businessman has decided to stop waiting for it to develop and kill the project.
The Mason-Dixon Downs project was the third attempt by the Gettysburg businessman to build a casino in the county and would’ve been located near Emmitsburg Road in Freedom Township.
LeVan said that he still believes that a gaming project “would be tremendous for the local Adams County economy, create thousands of jobs, and provide desperately needed funding for countless municipal and community projects.”
However, he announced that he has “decided against submitting an application” because “the uncertainty surrounding the gaming expansion legislation in Harrisburg makes it impossible for me to commit to this project at this time.”
A gambling expansion that would bring gambling to bars and airports was passed by the House of Representatives last week, also regulating online gambling and fantasy sports. It also allows 40,000 slots terminals in liquor establishments such as bars, bowling alleys and truck shops. However, it’s still to be approved by the Pennsylvania Senate.
