Fantasy Sports sites gained a “permanent stay”
New York Court gave permission to DraftKings and FanDuel to operate during Court Appeal.
US.- Major Fantasy Sports sites –DraftKings and FanDuel- can operate regularly thanks to the state’s Supreme Court resolution. The companies are still fighting a battle against New York attorney, Eric Schneiderman, who accused them of “illegal gambling.”
But bets will keep on going, at least, until May when the companies’ appeal is expected to finish. Schneiderman demands the permanent closure of the sites and the payment of US$4 billion to compensate New York bettors for their loses.
Until now, Fantasy Sports sites are apparently winning the appeal that could deem them games of skill rather than luck; therefore, legal. Last December, Manhattan’s Court had already given them a temporary permission to keep their business going.
