DraftKings in deal with Norwich City Football Club
The US operator has signed an agreement to become Norwich City’s fantasy sports partner for the rest of the current season.
UK.- The US operator DraftKings has announced it second English football sponsorship deal in the past week, signing up to become Premier League side Norwich City Football Club’s fantasy sports partner.
Last week, DraftKings announced a deal with the Championship’s West Bromwich Albion.
Like last week’ deal, the agreement with Norwich City is only until the end of the current 2021/22 football season. The club, which is currently 18th in the Premier League, will place DraftKings’ branding at its Carrow Road stadium and on its social media channels and website.
Sam Jeffery, commercial director at Norwich City, said: “We’re excited to add DraftKings to our fantastic roster of partners this season. DraftKings is a huge brand in the States and we’re delighted the business has selected Norwich City to help support its growth in the UK.
“As a club that concentrates on innovating the fan experience, we’ll be working very closely with DraftKings to learn from its successes and look forward to the content we’ll be collaborating on to enhance the fans’ viewing enjoyment.”
DraftKings’ fantasy sports offering features 15 sports categories, including the Premier League, Champions League, NBA and NFL, with cash prizes for customers whose selections perform best.
The company had rather a slow start when it launched in the UK back in 2016, but it’s remained committed to building up a UK presence.
Last year DraftKings expressed interest in buying the UK gaming giant Entain but finally ended talks without making a firm offer. Entain had extended the US sportsbook’s deadline to make make a firm offer until November 19.
Jeffrey Haas, SVP of international strategy, said: “We are excited to work with the entire Norwich City team to bring our industry-leading daily fantasy sports experience to its supporters.
“Through our platform, sports fans can not only draft lineups for the remainder of the season but can also participate in daily contests, giving them more ways to show their pride and support for Norwich City and its players.”
