Macau Slot net profit down slightly in 2025
The sports betting concessionaire has reported US$15.7m in net profit for 2025.
Macau.- Macau Slot has reported that net profit was slightly down 3 per cent year-on-year to MOP126.9m (US$15.7m) in 2025, according to the company’s annual business management report published in the official gazette this week.
The company, which runs instant lotteries and betting on football and basketball matches on a non-exclusive basis, attributed last year’s performance to a continuously changing operating environment and economic challenges in neighbouring regions, while crediting Macau SAR government policy for keeping local conditions relatively stable. “Looking to the future, we will continue to develop diversified sports betting products and betting options to meet customer needs,” the report said.
Last week, Macau Slot was granted a one-year extension of its instant lottery concession; the contract will now run until June 5, 2027. The renewal provides the possibility of further extensions should the parties reach a mutual understanding. The terms of the concession maintain conditions aimed at promoting local employment and workforce development. Macau Slot is required to prioritise the hiring of local employees, support on-the-job training initiatives and to continue cooperating with authorities on the recruitment and retention of local talent.
These employment provisions were incorporated into the concession renewal in 2025, in which Macau Slot pledged to gradually reduce its number of non-resident workers and increase opportunities for local staff. The targets included a 35 per cent reduction in non-local, non-skilled employees by the first quarter of 2026.
