Macau visitor arrivals reach 30 million so far in 2026

The territory recorded an average of more than 119,000 visitor arrivals per day during the first eight months of 2026.

Macau.- The annual count of visitor numbers to Macau reached 30 million by 11am on September 11, 22 days earlier than in 2025. According to the Public Security Police Force, visitor arrivals are up by 8 per cent year-on-year, with an average of 119,000 per day between January and August.

Mainland China remained Macau’s largest source of visitors at 21.54 million during the first eight months of the year. The figure represents 74.4 per cent of total arrivals and was 10 per cent higher than the corresponding period in 2025.

Hong Kong followed with 4.87 million visitors, although arrivals from the market fell 1.8 per cent year-on-year. Taiwan contributed 780,000 arrivals, up 21.7 per cent, while international visitors increased 3.4 per cent to 1.76 million. South Korea was the leading international source market, with 340,000 visitors, followed by the Philippines at 330,000 and Thailand at 140,000.

The year’s highest single-day arrival count was 247,000, recorded on May 2 during the Labour Day holiday period.

Macau International Airport handled 5.21 million passengers from January to August, a 5.6 per cent increase year-on-year. A total of 25 airlines currently operate services to 43 destinations, with mainland China accounting for 38 per cent.

Macau recorded almost 40.07 million visitor arrivals in 2025, up 14.7 per cent from the previous year. China’s National Day holiday runs from October 1 to 7, when mainland residents will have a seven-day break.
