Macau government extends instant lottery concession agreement with Macau Slot
The contract will now run until 2026.
Macau.- The only licensed sports betting operator in Macau, Macau Slot, has been granted a one-year extension to its instant lottery concession. According to an announcement published in the Official Gazette on Wednesday, the contract will now run until June 5, 2026.
The Financial Services Bureau confirmed that there is possibility of further extensions subject to mutual agreement.
Macau Slot has agreed to reduce non-professional foreign staff as a condition. The company said 15 per cent of its personnel currently come from outside the city. It has commited to reduce its non-professional foreign worker quota by 35 per cent by the end of the first quarter of 2026, and then implement measures to reduce the total foreign worker quota.
A clause in the contract states that the concessionaire must gradually reduce the number of foreign employees in accordance with its commitment to give priority to recruiting and hiring local employees and offering on-the-job training and in line with the government’s labour policy.
An update on Macau Slot’s financials shows the company had assets of MOP$954m (US$118m) as of December 31, 2024, up 7.8 per cent year-on-year. Company disclosures show Macau Slot reported a profit of MOP130.88m (US$16.3m) in 2024, up 5.5 per cent year-on-year.
