Macau Slot to reduce foreign manpower
The decision is part of the negotiations with the government for its new contract.
Macau.- The only licensed sports betting operator in Macau, Macau Slot, has reportedly agreed to reduce non-professional foreign staff as a condition for the renewal of its concession. The move comes as the government aims to prioritise local employment.
The company said 15 per cent of its personnel come from outside the city. It has commited to first reduce its non-professional foreign worker quota by 35 per cent by the end of the first quarter of 2026, and then implement measures to reduce the total foreign worker quota.
Macau Slot’s concession expired on June 5 after being renewed for one year in June 2024. The government said it will continue to review the company’s implementation of measures to ensure priority employment for local residents and fulfil its social responsibilities.
