Authorities in Macau have confirmed they will maintain the current 48-hour validity period for nucleic acid tests for tourists entering Macau from Guangdong.

Macau.- Macau’s health authorities have decided to keep the current 48-hour validity period for negative Covid-19 tests for tourists entering Macau from Guangdong. Visitors from other cities in mainland China need only a negative test within the past 7 days.

At a press conference, Conde S. Januario Hospital clinical director Dr Tai Wa Hou, who has been coordinating the Macau Health Bureau’s response to the outbreak, said the health authorities will continue the 48-hour validity period in Guangdong province until the pandemic situation in the province is stabilised.

Cases of the highly contagious variant of Omicron have been detected in several cities in Guangdong, including Zhuhai, which borders Macau, since last month. Mainland China reported 18 new imported Covid-19 cases on Friday.
