Gaming revenue falls in Nevada, sportsbook handle up
The total gaming revenue fell 0.6% year-on-year during February’s operations in Nevada but sportsbook handle was up.
US.- The Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) has released the latest financial report, which indicates that total gaming revenue in the state totalled US$1.01 billion in February, a 0.6% decrease when compared to the same period last year. However, sportsbook handle was up in Nevada.
The report shows that slot machine categories accounted for more than half of the statewide revenue: the once cent machines revenue decreased 0.1% to US$259 million, while multi denomination slots totalled US$258.4 million or a 1% growth. Baccarat suffered a 25% year-on-year fall to US$132.1 million and roulette a 5% decrease to US$34 million.
On the other hand, sports betting handle registered a 11.5% year-on-year increase in February. Sports betting win increased 235.1% to US$35.8 million and operator win percentage stood at 7.8%. The total amount wagered reached the US$458.6 million figure, a significant improvement from February 2018’s US$411.2 million.
”We had really severe weather in northern Nevada… In all fairness, if that weather wasn’t so severe, the state probably would have been up,” board senior analyst Michael Lawton said. “Those markets… every weekend it seemed like there was a large winter storm that impacted visitation and travel.”
