South Africa’s new gambling bill to strengthen regulations

The African country adopted a new bill that will help improve the current situation of the industry.

South Africa.- The Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Trade and Industry from South Africa adopted last week a redrafted version of the National Gambling Amendment Bill. Local authorities believe that it is set to help the regulatory environment of the local industry.

Rob Davies, Minister of Trade and Industry, said that the bill that was adopted by the committee is expected to strengthen the current situation of the gambling industry in South Africa. The bill will be debated in the National Assembly.

The Minister added that the National Gambling Board will become the National Gambling Regulator (NGR). “The National Gambling Regulator is established as a public entity with a chief executive and a deputy chief executive. The NGR will function without a Board,” said Davies, according to local media.
