New Jersey casinos get sports betting ultimatum

The state’s gambling regulators have urged the casinos to submit their sports betting plans by the end of this Monday to get them approved before the NFL season.

US.- New Jersey led the way and pushed the Supreme Court into ruling against the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) and is one of the states ready to take the industry by storm. However, the Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) has urged casinos to hurry up and submit their plans for the segment by the end of this Monday if they want to get them approved when the football season starts in September.

DGE’s director David Rebuck said the body had already notified casinos of its timetable last Monday (July 9th) and explained that, should operators miss the deadline, their plans may not be approved in time. “They’ve got to give us a reasonable amount of time to evaluate and test all this,” Rebuck told The Associated Press.

According to Rebuck, some casinos haven’t submitted their sports betting platforms for testing at all, while some are further along in the process. He also explained that the warning issued to the operators includes plans for internet and mobile sports wagering, a segment still vacant as no casino has been approved to get into it so far.
