New Jersey approves Australian sportsbook

The DGE has approved an Australian sportsbook provider to offer online sports betting.

US.- The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) announced this week that it has granted preliminary approval for PointsBet, an Australian sportsbook, to offer online sports betting in the state.

The DGE said that it is allowing the company to conduct “soft play” betting in affiliation with the Meadowlands Racetrack, located in East Rutherford, though the Australian operator would only operate online.

FanDuel is currently in charge of the in-person and the existing online sportsbook at the Meadowlands Racetrack. The state is quickly expanding its sports betting offering, as between and June and the end of October it registered more than US$600 million.

PointsBet’s product allows gamblers to win or lose greater amounts depending on how close they are to the final score of an event taking place in the state.
