Louisiana sports betting handle down to $208.3m in April
The state sportsbooks registered $6.1m in gross revenue, down 80 per cent compared to March’s $30.1m.
US.- Louisiana’s sports betting handle was $208.3m in April, according to the Louisiana Gaming Control Board. The figure was down 10.5 per cent from the $232.7m wagered in March and 12.6 per cent from February’s record of $238.4m.
Louisiana sportsbooks took $6.1m in gross revenue, down 80 per cent compared to March’s $30.1m. The state collected $2.6m in taxes from April sports betting revenue.
The state’s seven mobile sportsbooks took $186m in bets, or 89.3 per cent of the overall handle. Sportsbook operators deducted $533,415 in promotional spending. Retail sportsbooks hit a record low, taking $22.2m in wagers, down 17.8 per cent from the nearly $27m bet in March.
Louisiana’s mobile sports betting market opened on January 28 following the launch of sports betting at land-based casinos in October. The opening weekend saw more than 3.4m geolocation transactions, according to GeoComply.
DraftKings opens temporary sportsbook at Hollywood Casino in Louisiana
Louisiana’s Hollywood Casino Baton Rouge, currently located on a riverboat docked on the Mississippi River, opened a new DraftKings Sportsbook in March. The temporary sportsbook will operate until the riverboat’s landside expansion is completed, with a permanent sportsbook slated to open in 2023.
DraftKings Sportsbook at Hollywood Casino Baton Rouge offers customers an in-person betting service, including 20 self-serve kiosks and three over-the-counter ticket booths.
