DraftKings opens temporary sportsbook at Hollywood Casino in Louisiana
A temporary DraftKings Sportsbook is now open in Hollywood Casino Baton Rouge.
US.- Louisiana’s Hollywood Casino Baton Rouge, currently located on a riverboat docked on the Mississippi River, has opened a new DraftKings Sportsbook. The temporary sportsbook will operate until the riverboat’s landside expansion is completed, with a permanent sportsbook slated to open in 2023.
DraftKings Sportsbook at Hollywood Casino Baton Rouge will offer customers an in-person betting service, including 20 self-serve kiosks and three over-the-counter ticket booths.
Terry Downey, president and CEO of CQ Holding Company said about the Louisiana sportsbook: “We believe this temporary DraftKings Sportsbook space will lay the foundation for one of the most engaging sports viewing environments, which will be further elevated upon the opening of the proposed permanent DraftKings Sportsbook next year.” CQ is the owner of Hollywood Baton Rouge.
Michael Kibort, senior director of retail sportsbooks, DraftKings, added: “We’re excited to expand our DraftKings footprint in Louisiana, showcasing our commitment to the region with the opening of our second retail sportsbook space.
“Through our collaboration with CQ Holding Company and Hollywood Casino, we look forward to revolutionising the sports betting experience, while providing sports fans with an outstanding entertainment facility in Baton Rouge.”
Hollywood Casino in Louisiana broke ground on a $60m expansion last year, hoping to become the first Baton Rouge riverboat casino to come off the water. The work, which is set to be completed in the second half of the year, will add 38,000 square feet to the casino atrium.
The casino is also planning to add a sports bar/entertainment venue with seating for 250, a sports viewing area and a Shaquille O’Neal’s Big Chicken Restaurant, named after the former NBA player.
