Connecticut committee holds a sports betting hearing
The committee held a public hearing on Tuesday to discuss a legislation to legalise sports betting in the state.
US.- The Legislature’s Public Safety and Security Committee from Connecticut held a public hearing on Tuesday to discuss the legalisation of sports betting in the state and to craft a piece that would allow facilities to offer the modality.
The Legislature from Connecticut has to consider how a bill could impact the state’s current gaming compact with Indian tribes that own the state’s two casinos and how they could still benefit if they determine that the tribes have exclusive rights over sports betting.
Lawmakers in the state also have to decide if there will be a potential conflict of interest at Mogehan Sun, since the facility is home to a WNBA team and professional indoor lacrosse teams.
While Governor of Connecticut Ned Lamond said that he didn’t include potential revenue from sports betting in his latest budget proposal, he commented that he is open to the idea of including it in the future.
