Colorado sports betting handle increases year-over-year in May
The state’s handle was up 10.67 per cent year-over-year.
US.- Colorado’s sports betting handle totalled $495.3m in May, up 10.67 per cent year-over-year and down 2.47 per cent from April’s $507.8m. According to the Colorado Division of Gaming, gross gaming revenue (GGR) totalled $49m. Most of the total was generated online, while retail generated $13,579.
Basketball led the market with $144m in wagers, while parlays/combinations generated $118.8m and baseball $95.3m. Total tax was $3.5m, up 5.44 per cent from April 2025 and 11.88 per cent year-over-year. Fiscal year to date wagers totalled $5.9m, up 4.6 per cent from the same period in 2024.
Christopher Schroder, director of gaming, said: “Colorado’s sports betting market continues to demonstrate robust growth, as shown by the total taxes collected.”
Governor Jared Polis has signed House Bill 1311, which will gradually remove the ability of sportsbooks to deduct promotional spending from tax obligations. The bill was passed in the Senate with 52 votes in favour and only 13 against.
