Colorado sports betting revenue increases in April

Gross gaming revenue was $47.3m, up 30 per cent from the previous month.

US.- Colorado’s sports betting gross gaming revenue (GGR) totalled $47.3m in April, up 30 per cent from March. Online betting generated $47m and retail $203,792.

According to the Colorado Division of Gaming, the handle was $507.8m, with $505.5m bet online and $2.2m in retail. Basketball generated $145.5m in online bets and $885,474 in retail bets, followed by parlays/combinations with $131.8m in online bets and $510.597 in retail bets.

The tax take was $3.4m, up 58 per cent from March and 78.06 per cent year-over-year. For fiscal year to date, taxes were $30.1m, a 18.63 per cent increase from the same period in 2024.

Colorado Division of Gaming director Christopher Schroder said: “April’s sports betting tax revenue demonstrates a remarkable growth, which translates to more funds for crucial water conservation projects in Colorado. This increased tax revenue underscores the positive impact of sports betting on our state’s water resources. Governor Jared Polis has signed House Bill 1311, which will gradually remove the ability of sportsbooks to deduct promotional spending from tax obligations. The bill was passed in the Senate with 52 votes in favour and only 13 against.
