Virginia sports betting handle increases year-over-year in May

US.- The Virginia Lottery has released its report on sports wagering activity for May. The sports betting handle was $595m, up 17.7 per cent year-over-year but down 2.5 per cent from April’s $609.7m.

Mobile wagers totalled $589.8m and retail bets $5.1m. Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) totalled $67.9m.

Of the fourteen mobile operators and three casinos authorised to accept wagers in the state, thirteen reported net positive AGR, leading to $10.2m in tax payments for the month. Virginia bettors won $522.6m for a combined 12.17 per cent operators win percentage.

The Virginia Lottery recently released its monthly report on casino gaming activity at Hard Rock Bristol, Rivers Casino Portsmouth, and Caesars Virginia. Gaming revenue in May totalled $85.4m, up 8.3 per cent from April’s $78.8m and 36 per cent year-over-year. Slots revenue reached $63.5m, while table games revenue was $21.8m.
